But, as far as I can see, the problem was never me, but pre-existent trust issues, since, at least in my view, we never interacted inappropriately, and should've given no cause for him to doubt you. I don't know if you ever gave him a reason not to trust you, or if the problem was there before you, or if it only manifested itself because of me. But it seems to me that the real issue is his insecurity, which I can totally sympathize with, having been the same way in past relationships. You did a noble thing, in a way, by doing what you did. But by isolating each other from people, you are going to suffocate your relationship. Bitterness will begin to fester. I have seen it happen too many times. It has happened to me. I have forcefully (no, not physiy, heh) isolated partners from other people, because I was insecure, and they always came to resent me for it, and the same was done to me in return, and the same feelings of resentment spawned in me. As much as we'd all like to believe that we're the whole shebang for someone, being, as we are, so disposable in the real world, wanting to be all three meals and dessert, the reality is that that's not really ever the case, or at least very rarely. I've personally never seen it. You may be anothers main course, but you still need side dishes, added spices, etc. I'm sure you understand this very simple analogy. Cutting yourselves off is going to suffocate the both of you. I don't know if you do the same to him, or if perhaps you're his whole shebang and don't have to worry about it, but yeah. I also know how much you hate being controlled, so I imagine that in the end this won't breed happy feelings towards he who would impose on you. Though, it's possible he never commanded you to do it, and that you decided to do it because he is your significant other and your loyalty lies with him. Actually that seems probable. And it's possible that I really was the problem, and it wasn't only the symptom of a bigger, deeper problem having very little to do with me, as me. In this case, you did well to remove the obstacle, and I hope that you go on to form a very strong, happy, and lasting relationship.
